Wednesday Hodgepodge – Perfectionism?

Welcome to Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Each week, Joyce from the blog, From This Side of the Pond, supplies questions to share on our blogs.  This is my third week to join in and I love the challenge of the questions she has for us.  If you are a blogger and would love to join in, click here for more details.

Now, for this weeks questions.  I’m a bit nervous, I hope I can answer them! Here we go!

1. What is one area of your life where you’re a perfectionist? Is that a good thing?

I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning my house.  I can’t concentrate on projects unless my house is clean.  I’m picky about the cleaning products I use, too.   I would rather clean instead of having someone clean my house for me.

Is it a good thing????  I think it can be, but it’s not a good thing when I can’t enjoy things in life because I’m worried about my house not being perfectly clean.  I try to be balanced.

The other thing I’m picky about is hotels.  But, I’ll talk about that another day.

2. What’s something you find perfectly ridiculous?

I’m finding the negativity that’s going on in our country very ridiculous.  It’s really getting tiring.

3. What’s a skill you’ve developed by way of that old fashioned saying, ‘practice makes perfect?

I’ve had the honor of speaking at various events.  Those that know me personally can testify what a miracle that is.  I was extremely shy growing up and still am.  I even failed my speech class in high school.   I am by no means and never will be  “perfect,” but the more you speak the easier it gets.  It’s still scary as can be, but it is easier than that first time.  I always want to be willing to speak for my Savior, so, I have to put my fears to the side.

4. What’s your idea of a perfect breakfast?

I can skip breakfast easily.  If I had to choose a perfect breakfast it would be yummy light and fluffy pancakes with butter and warm maple syrup, scrambled eggs and crispy bacon.

5. What’s a trip, holiday, vacation, or day outing you’ve taken that you’d rate a perfect 10? Tell us why.

One of my favorite places to go is Branson, MO. I love staying at the Keeter Center.  It’s beautiful, cozy and safe and I just love the area in the Spring and in the Fall. It’s always relaxing and peaceful when we go.  My husband golfs and I like to shop.  We then go site seeing and attend shows in the evenings.

6. What quote or saying perfectly sums up your life right now? If you can’t do perfect, how about one that comes close?

*”Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalm 37:4

I want to live my life out delighting in the Lord and in the things of God.  My desire is to have a heart like His.  Granted, I will never have a perfect heart like His… but, that is my life…striving to live and be as He created me to be.  Yes, I fail on a regular basis, but I *“keep on keepin’ on!”

I just shared two quotes, didn’t I?

7. How would you spend $300 today?

Well, I could spend $300.00 easy.  I can always find something.  I think I would put a deposit on a Mediterranean Cruise…I think…that’s way out of the box for me.  We’ve been talking about it and I’m a little fearful of going, but… I just might go for it!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Our son began animating characters on the computer when he was around 14.  His dream was to work on major animated movies.  This past week, his fourth movie came out that he has worked on.  His career has taken him to some amazing places and he has had the opportunity to work with some great studios.

What fun it has been to stay at the very end of his movies when the credits are rolling by and see his name as one of the animators.

The major movies he has worked on are:

*The Book of Life

*The Peanuts Movie

*Ice Age, Collision Course

*Rock Dog

…plus several more amazing projects.

  1. Wow, impressive work Nathan! And, we LOVE The Keeter Center too. It’s just the best! I’m obsessed over a clean house as well but I do have weekly help but I do something in the cleaning department every day to keep it spic and span. It’s never ending! So glad you joined the fun of the HP!

  2. I’m sure it is exciting to see your son’s name in the credits. How proud you must be : ) I love the Psalm…that’s the verse I’ve always prayed over my youngest daughter since she was a tiny tot. Have a wonderful rest of the week!

  3. Your son has had some amazing career opportunities! It must have been to have worked with the movies. Congratulations on being able to do public speaking. That’s a challenging skill for many people. Being able to share your story and life experience is valuable; and others can learn and be inspired by it
